FrieNDIS Social Group Birthday Party at Area 51

FrieNDIS Social Group Birthday Party

Birthdays are a big deal at FrieNDIS, and we recently celebrated two of our longest-standing members—Captain Snot Barrier and Captain Cook—with an epic NDIS social group birthday party at Area 51!

While the trampolines, obstacle courses, and hidden tunnels were exciting, the real highlight of the day was simple: spending time with friends.

The Best Part? Friendship.

When I asked the boys what their favourite part of the day was, I expected to hear about the trampolines, ninja courses, or the high-flying stunts. But instead, every answer was the same: spending time with friends.

This response is exactly why FrieNDIS exists. Many of these boys have faced social exclusion, missed out on birthday invitations, or struggled to find real friendships. We set out to change that, and seeing them celebrate each other, laugh, and make memories proved just how important this group is.

A Battle of Captains in the Gladiator Pit

While every area of Area 51 had its fans, the Ball Pit zone was an instant favourite. This multi-level maze was packed with obstacles, secret rooms, and tunnels—far more than just a ball pit! I got dragged in myself and quickly realised how much fun (and how exhausting!) it actually was.

The Gladiator Pit, however, was where the main event happened. The birthday boys had planned their showdown in advance, facing off in a battle of balance and strength. Captain Snot Barrier emerged victorious, but Captain Cook put up a solid fight, and the friendly competition was the perfect way to mark the occasion.

Why Birthdays Matter in FrieNDIS

FrieNDIS started because too many of these guys had never been invited to a birthday party—or had no one to invite to their own. That wasn’t just heartbreaking; it was unacceptable. No one should have to feel like they don’t matter.

Birthdays were one of the first things we focused on when we started this group, and no matter how much we grow, that will never change. Our goal isn’t just to throw parties—it’s to make sure every one of our boys knows they’re valued. That’s why we take the time to figure out what they’d truly love for their birthday and make it happen. They’re not just numbers to us—they’re incredible people who deserve to be celebrated.

The Confidence Boost That Lasts All Year

I’ve seen it happen time and time again—these moments matter. The boys talk about birthday parties all year long. They remember where we went, what we did, whether there was cake, and most importantly, how it made them feel.

A birthday party is more than just a fun day out—it’s a confidence booster, a friendship builder, and a reminder that they are part of something bigger.

Many of these friendships continue beyond our sessions, and that’s the real win. We don’t just want our boys to have fun when they’re with us—we want them to develop lasting social connections with people who care.

More Than Just a Group—A Community That Cares

I know what it feels like to think you don’t matter, and I don’t believe anyone should ever have to feel that way. That’s why FrieNDIS isn’t just about activities—it’s about building real friendships, where every member feels included, valued, and supported.

So here’s to Captain Snot Barrier and Captain Cook—two legends who make FrieNDIS even better. Your crew is lucky to have you, and we can’t wait to celebrate many more birthdays together!

🎉 Here’s to more fun, more friendships, and more unforgettable moments! 🎉
