Inclusive Fitness for People with Disabilities on the Gold Coast
Build friendships. Feel included. Get active.

If you’ve been looking for an inclusive group fitness program that’s more than just a workout — you’ve found it.
FrieNDIS Fitness is a safe, social, and fun space designed specifically for teens and adults with disabilities. Whether you’re looking to get moving, make friends, or feel like you finally belong somewhere — we’ve got you.
💥 Why People Join
-
Belonging & Social Connection: Many of our participants have experienced exclusion. Here, they find their people.
-
Confidence: Our games, challenges, and silliness are designed to celebrate effort, progress, and fun.
-
Mood & Mental Health: Sunshine, exercise, and laughter mean more dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins — helping to lower anxiety and improve mood naturally. Learn more in our blog on Enhancing Lives Through Social Activities in Disability Fitness
-
Friendship That’s Real: These are real mates — not just support workers or paid connections. We focus on The Power of Belonging and creating lasting social experiences.
“This is the highlight of his week.” – Parent
“I finally made a real friend.” – Participant

Why is Josh in so many of our photos and videos?
Well... because he’s awesome.
Josh has been with us for over five years. He was the reason I started focusing and learning specifically to work with people with disabilities (more here), and he’s grown into one of the most confident, kind, and supportive members in our whole crew. He’s the kind of guy who helps others feel welcome — and yeah, he’s often the first to jump into a game or have a laugh.
We’re proud of how far he’s come — and even prouder to have him still with us. 💪

📍 Where We Train
We’re currently running sessions in Upper Coomera, with more coming soon to Helensvale, Southport, Nerang, Ormeau and surrounding areas. With our new mobile gym trailer, we’re able to go where we’re needed most — community centres, carparks or frontyards. We will still offer park sessions, but due to council policy that will not include the trailer.
We offer:
-
Group sessions
-
One-on-one training for those who need a more comfortable entry point
Learn more about the trailer on our Mobile Gym Project page.
🕒 Current Session Times
📅 Mondays & Wednesdays:
-
3:45 PM – Boxing
-
4:30 PM – ABC (Aim, Balance, Coordination), Circuits or Games Days
👥 Designed for teens and adults, including participants with ASD, intellectual disabilities, anxiety, or anyone who's struggled to find their place elsewhere.
(Check out what Josh has to say about this to the right!)
We’re gradually expanding with new times and locations. If you're after something a little quieter or more private, we also run small group and one-on-one options tailored for those who prefer a gentler start.
👉 Let us know what suits you — we’re here to make it work.

👟 What the Sessions Are Like
We mix things up! Sessions include:
-
Boxing
-
Circuits
-
Partner Games
-
Sledging, cheering, laughing
We mix things up! It might not be what you expect — our balance and coordination games could be egg-and-spoon races, hopscotch, or something totally made up that day. We like to think outside the box.
Ask any of the guys and they’ll tell you it’s fun. I try to sneak the veggies into the lasagne — that’s how I see gamifying our exercise. They say exercise can’t be fun… then they haven’t met me.
Yes, we do 'real' training too — boxing, coordination, squats, planks, burpees — but that’s not what people remember. It’s the silliness and laughs, the little wins, the cheeky hacks to bend the rules (Josh, I’m looking at you). Fun and banter are encouraged.
