NDIS Networking Event Gold Coast

NDIS Networking Event Gold Coast

Network meeting at ARRC Rehab Helensvale with Slim Gym

A solid turnout and real conversations

Today we had a good turnout, considering it was the day after a public holiday again. Thank you to everyone who came. We had a chance to have some good conversations and explore different ideas.

We had a bit of a mix today. Capoeira classes specifically designed with PWD in mind, transport options helping PWD save funding by not always requiring a support worker for appointments, a neurodivergent ladies group, neurodivergent-led coaching, some SC, OT, and of course myself.

Capoeira, neurodivergence, and practical supports

We had a good chat about the interesting aspect of Capoeira, what it is and the benefits as well. Parents are often happy to hear it is not about fighting, it is non-contact and more dance and movement focused, which makes socialising in the group easier.

The ins and outs of a disability pick up service and how they help their customers by saving funding, having preferred drivers, learning individual needs to make travel easier physcially and mentally.

Listening to someone else’s experience with AuDHD, burnout and what that can mean for someone was quite interesting and hit home for me at the moment too. It was nice to hear there are ways to manage it, and it will be something I will personally need to look into a bit more.

We also talked about some of the behind the scenes of what OTs do, things they need to make it easier and faster for them, which translates to less billables, so quite important. We do talk about a lot at these meetings, I personally love the tangents we go down, allowing us to not only learn a little about what different providers bring but also the personalities, stories and why they got into this industry. I feel if we are going to refer our clients to someone it cant just be a business card, we need to know about them, their style, their vibe and if they are actually a good fit for the person we refer. I couldnt possibly fit all we talk about in these meetings, to find out you will need to come in person.

Thank you to ARRC Rehab

A big thank you to ARRC Rehab for allowing us to meet in their conference room for our network event. They have an amazing gym and setup, making rehab and movement more accessible for people of all abilities. ARRC blends exercise, rehab, and adaptive sport in a way that actually works in real life.

Founded by Daniell Bennett, a Physio and Ex Phys, ARRC brings strong clinical knowledge into a practical space where people can build confidence, skills, and long-term participation.

Slim Gym (that’s me)

I run Slim Gym, working with teens and adults with disabilities through fitness and social-based sessions. The focus is not just exercise; it is helping people build confidence, learn how to be part of a group, and actually make real friendships.

Sessions are adapted to the individual, whether that is building basic movement skills, improving confidence in social settings, or just giving someone a space where they feel like they belong. We mix structured training with games, social interaction, and a bit of controlled chaos depending on the group.

The goal is simple. Help people enjoy movement, feel part of something, and give them opportunities to grow in ways that carry over into real life... like making friends that are not paid to be there

Why these NDIS networking events matter

These NDIS networking event Gold Coast meetups keep getting better because of the mix of people in the room. Different services, different perspectives, but all working towards similar outcomes.

If you are a provider, parent, or someone looking to connect, these conversations are where things actually start happening.
